I recently watched the Movie Serie on DVD, Portrait of a Lady on Fire. It is the second installment in the sequel to Blue is the Warmest Color. The movie takes place in Cape Town during and after the 2020 World Cup.
The movie is full of energy and I enjoyed watching it. I do have to say that the movie was really a great deal longer than it looks in the trailer. It was also much more adventurous. It's full of comedy, but not in a bad way.
The movie begins with an opportunity to catch up with the main character after she had ended up doing some cleaning at her friend's house. She meets the mysterious Mr. Luis, and they decide to go to his island. They arrive and discover that all the guests are in a terrible state of decay. They decide to take the rest of the guests with them to their villa to help with the clean up. At the villa they meet their host Mr. Julien (Benoît Jacquot), who only wants the two girls to be his maid's, they get comfortable and soon fall in love.
Later they get lost in the woods and they decide to go back to the villa. They want to get back to their friends, so they are stranded in the middle of nowhere. So they decided to walk around until they find any water or anything to drink. Their phones are dead and they are starving. They start to wonder if they will make it through the night.
Then, when they get to the villa they see that there is a small open swimming pool, and they cannot swim. So they decide to get into the water to try and figure out how to go about it. They end up coming across a community swimming pool, and they can get in if they hold on for a bit.
When they get in the pool the water turns into a long shot as they are wrapped in a blanket and they run out of air and enter the ocean. They feel so stupid and like they should not have just spent so much time in the pool.
I think I would recommend this movie to anyone who is not familiar with it. The film has so much going on. I found the acting to be very good. I do not think you could tell they were actors.
Portrait of a Lady on Fire is an entertaining flick for anyone who likes movies, and especially to movie fans who liked the first movie. The second movie in the sequel has a great cast of characters that are all at least semi real people. I would suggest you give it a try. I don't know if you will enjoy it or not, but you should!
